Carpet Care Services

Carpet cleaning packages

We offer a number of carpet cleaning packages, depending on the condition of your carpets and your personal preferences. These range from a maintenance clean for lightly soiled carpets that just need a freshen up, to a restoration clean for carpets with very heavy soiling or significant staining and we also offer dry cleaning for delicate carpets and rugs.

Once we have assessed the condition of your carpets we will run through which packages would be suitable so you can make an informed decision on what's best for you.

You can see full details on our packages page.

Stain Protection

We offer Gard-X protection against spills and stains with some or our packages and it is also available as a standalone treatment for carpets and sofas etc. that are already clean - e.g. new or nearly new.

Woolsafe approvedGard-X is a Woolsafe Approved water-based fluorocarbon carpet and upholstery protector and anti static treatment. It is suitable for wet cleanable carpets and upholstery and protects against oil-based, water based and dry soils.

As with all protective treatments, in the event of a spillage Gard-X treatment buys you time. Liquids do not immediately soak into the carpet or fabric, giving you valuable time to grab some paper towels and soak up the spill before it penetrates into the fibres. Spills should not be left untackled as they will still soak into the carpet after a short time.

It should be noted that drying times will be extended if you opt for stain protection treatment as the solution is applied immediately after cleaning and then allowed to dry and cure naturally.

Caravan Carpet Cleaning

Do you own a static caravan on an Essex site?

Caravan cleaningYour caravan's carpets can take a battering over the course of the season, especially if you rent it out. With the traditional British weather you can expect anything from muddy shoes to airborne dust from dry fields blowing through open doors and windows. And it all ends up getting trapped in your carpets and soft furnishings which act as air filters.

We can deep clean your carpets and seating leaving your caravan looking, feeling and smelling clean, fresh and welcoming. By removing the soiling you'll also help extend the life of your carpets and seating. Why not get together with other owners and save money with a multiple booking. We'll give a discount if we take a multiple booking for the same site on the same day.

Most power supplies to static caravans are rated at 16 amps and that's fine for us to work with, but some older sites or older sections of sites have a lower rating which result in problems with the power tripping out. In those cases we will use alternative cleaning processes. If you don't know the supply rating we'll need to check with the site management.

Odour Treatment

Many odour issues are caused by a build up of soiling leading to a musty smell and the deep cleaning process in itself will deal with a lot of those issues by removing the source. If you have a particular problem - such as vomit or urine contamination then we will first give it an antimicrobial treatment using a healthcare grade product to kill the bacteria responsible for the odours and make it safe for everyone. We can then clean the carpet and treat the problem area with a professional solution which contains deodorisers and bactericides that carry on working as the carpet dries. DO NOT use any household products as they generally just mask the smell temporarily without removing the source and they may contain ingredients that could damage your carpet.

The treatment needs to penetrate the carpet and backing to the same extent as the original contamination and then flushed out. In normal circumstances it is inadvisable to put this amount of liquid into the carpet but we use a specialist piece of equipment (called a water claw) to quickly neutralise and extract the solution and the contaminant, even from within the underlay, then use fans to speed dry it. It should be noted, however, that in cases of severe contamination it may be necessary to have the carpet lifted so that a section of the underlay can be cut away and replaced, the sub-floor decontaminated and the carpet re-fitted.

It's best to call us in as soon as possible after the event as the chances of successful treatment diminish the longer it's left. Untreated, odours will also permeate through the whole room or even the whole house, clinging to curtains. soft furnishings and even the walls, meaning they can linger for some time after we have removed the source.

Spot & Stain Removal

We have the products, expertise and equipment to treat most stains that we are likely to come across and even if we cannot fully remove a particular problem we can generally make a big improvement to its appearance. However, prevention is always better than cure and you can see some useful tips in our article "How to Ruin a Carpet". As you're reading this section of the web site let's assume that it's too late for prevention!Professional Spot & Stain Remover

First of all, DON'T PANIC. Spills and accidents are a part of everyday life and they happen to us all at some time no matter how careful we are. If you're panicking you're more likely to use or do something inappropriate and make things worse. It's important though that you act quickly to minimise any potential damage. The longer it's left the higher the risk that it could be permanent so don't wait for your dinner guests to leave before you clear up that spilled drink, do it straight away.

You should scrape up any solids then blot the bulk of the spillage straight away with a plentiful supply of plain white kitchen towels or serviettes. Don't rub - that will just spread the stain further and may damage the carpet fibres. Don't use printed or coloured paper towels or serviettes - the dyes may come out and make the problem worse. You should then use a slightly dampened white cotton towel (terry nappies are ideal for this) to draw up the rest of the liquid. The idea is that the spillage is drawn up into the towel by capillary action. The towel may become permanently stained so don't use your best one!

If you have one of our stain remover sprays you should follow the instructions on the bottle (click on image for details). Otherwise, you can dilute the spillage again with a small amount of cold water, best applied by lightly spraying, but take great care not to over-wet it and keep blotting with fresh paper or cotton towels until there is no more improvement. Then place a slightly dampened folded white cotton towel on the stain and weight it down with a book or something of similar weight so that it stays fully in contact with the carpet. This will continue to slowly draw the stain out. Then give us a call and we'll see what we can do about the rest.

Household detergents and cleaners should not be used - they often contain bleaching agents and you could end up damaging the carpet or setting the stain permanently.

We have successfully treated the following tricky stains/problems but remember that results will vary from one carpet to another. No carpet cleaner can never guarantee that any spot or stain will be fully removed but we do have a pretty good track record (see our examples page) and remember, the sooner you call us in after a spill the better the chance that we can remove it.
